On the 19th November 1995 the town hall of Wem, Shropshire, burnt to the ground. A photograph of the scene appears to show the figure of a little girl standing in the doorway of the blazing building. Back in 1677 a fire of similar intensity had ravaged the town hall; it was started when a girl named Jane Churm dropped a candle.
