This is my favourite film of all time, no exceptions. Jonathan Miller’s 1966 version of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is everything a Carroll adaptation should be: strange, melancholic, dreamy, distinctly Victorian and, most importantly, faithful to the source material, something Burton and Disney completely failed to do. An obscure little gem, but incredible. (It’s also Pre-Raphaelite/Julia Margaret Cameron influenced, which is a bonus.)
